A Rich and Satisfying Life!

God says, "I will bless you... and you will be a blessing to others."

God wants each of us to experience a life that has love, peace, meaning, and direction. A rich and satisfying life means a life of access to God's divine resources: this is the provision God has made for us to live whole, healthy, and hopeful lives. The secret is a close relationship with God as we follow the truths of scripture. Draw on God's endless supply of resources made available to us in Christ, and we have everything we need for any and every situation. Live life to the fullest by living it with God. Here are some verses from the Bible that will guide you in accessing God's abundant resources for a rich and satisfying life that God means for us to live:

Life with Family and Friends

Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering and felt their pain in your own bodies. [Hebrews 13:1-3]

We do not need to write to you about brotherly love, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. [1 Thessalonians 4:9]

If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother or sister, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brothers and sisters. [1 John 4:20-21]

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit. [1 Peter 3:15-19]

Always be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to one hope when you were called. [Ephesians 4:1-5]

Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking lies.
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
[Psalm 34:12-15]

But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. [Colossians 3:8-10]

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. [Philippians 2:3-5]

For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there you find disorder, confusion and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield , full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. [James 3:16-19]

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.

Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.

There are "friends" who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
[Proverbs 18:24; 17:17; 13:20]

But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. [Ruth 1:16]

Children and Parents

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" - which is the first commandment with a promise - "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. [Ephesians 6:1-4]

If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith. Such a person is worse than an unbeliever. [1 Timothy 5:8]

Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. [James 3:5]

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless." [Ephesians 5:25-27]
